FINDING OUT THE TRUTH OR HIDING THE TRUTH? ‘WHY SUDDENLY IDRIS JALA’ – MUHYIDDIN CATCHES NAJIB & CO IN CUNNING FELDA PLOY
KUALA LUMPUR ― Putrajaya should have appointed an independent accounting firm instead of Datuk Seri Idris Jala to look into the corporate irregularities that has cast a spotlight on Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV), Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said today.
The former deputy prime minister said it would appear more transparent if an accounting firm instead of a former minister being appointed for the role.
“What is surprising is why suddenly Idris Jala is being chosen. It would be better if an auditor or an accountant that is transparent and independent were chosen.
“We all know who is Idris Jala. What people want to know is the reason behind the crisis and what can be done to avert this. He is not an accounting firm,” Muhyiddin said in a press conference today.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president also urged FGV chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad to take full responsibility for the crisis and resign soon.
“When FGV came to question… he should have resign. The prime minister should have made him step down or remove him. They should have replaced him with someone with more experience,” Muhyiddin said.
He also said the issues surrounding FGV and its parent company Felda needed to be resolved soon to reduce further distress to the farmers and the country.
The Prime Minister’s Office yesterday said in a statement that Idris who is chief executive of Pemandu Associates, a private firm tasked with improving government efficiency, has been appointed as an independent party to investigate the FGV crisis and provide a way forward.
