A Canadian bride-to-be has been named as the first victim of the London Bridge terror attacks

The first victim of the London Bridge and Borough Market terror attacks has been named.

Seven people were killed on Saturday evening, when three assailants used a hire van to drive into pedestrians on London Bridge before launching a stabbing spree in a busy Borough Market. Another 48 were injured, 21 of whom are in a critical condition.

Chrissy Archibald

The first victim has been named as Chrissy Archibald, a Canadian bride-to-be that volunteered at a homeless shelter. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau first confirmed that a Canadian national had been killed in the attack on Sunday and Archibald was later named by local press.

“We grieve the loss of our beautiful, loving daughter and sister. She had room in her heart for everyone and believed strongly that every person was to be valued and respected,” Archibald’s family said in a statement. They added that she “would have had no understanding of the callous cruelty that caused her death.”

The six other victims are yet to be named, but they include a French national, according to press reports in the country. Citing local media, The Daily Telegraph said the national was 27 years old and he worked in the Boro Bistro in Borough Market. Another French national is missing.

The Metropolitan Police opened a casualty bureau for those worried about the whereabouts of people they know. The telephone numbers are 0800 096 1233 and 020 7158 0197.
