WHY NOT ALL 222 SEATS? EXPOSED AS UMNO’S TOOL, PAS AVENGES HUMILIATION BY GOING FOR 100 SEATS IN BID TO TRIGGER MORE 3-CORNER FIGHTS
THREE days after splitting with PKR, PAS has declared it will contest 100 parliamentary seats in the 14th general election.
PAS Information chief Nasruddin Hassan said 40 of the seats were considered “easy” wins while the rest would have to be “worked on more diligently”.
“We will contest maybe 100 seats in all, but we are targeting 40 as easy seats.
“Not only that, we can win 60 to 80 more seats because of the party’s manpower,” he told Malaysiakini.com today.
The Temerloh MP said PAS could win even in a three-cornered fight with Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH).
“PAS are looking two steps ahead to the big win – when we have the majority in Parliament in the next general election.”
PAS Federal Territories (FT) Commisioner Mohamad Noor Mohamad, meanwhile, said the division would be contesting nine parliamentary seats.
“The decision is made based on the available manpower of the party,” he said in a statement in Harakahdaily today.
He said PAS FT was eyeing Titiwangsa, Putrajaya, Labuan, Bandar Tun Razak, Wangsa Maju, Setiawangsa, Lembah Pantai, Batu, and Segambut.
The Lembah Pantai and Batu seats are held by PKR vice-presidents Nurul Izzah Anwar and Chua Tian Chong, respectively, while the Wangsa Maju seat is held by Dr Tan Kee Kwong, also of PKR.
Bandar Tun Razak is represented by former Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and Segambut by DAP’s Lim Lip Eng.
PAS lost its only seat in the Federal Territories, Titiwangsa, in the last general election.
