Claiming the US’ mixology dominance isn’t just bragging, either — it’s an established fact, according to the World’s 50 Best Bars list.
According to the most recent list, revealed in October 2016, 14 of 50 of the best bars in the world are located in the US.

14. PDT, New York
113 St. Marks Place, New York, NY
New York’s PDT was awarded the top spot in 2011. While it has slipped in the rankings in recent years, tourists and regulars continue to flock to the hidden location (behind a vintage phone booth) for cocktails, including endless custom drinks.
13. Aviary, Chicago
955 West Fulton Market, Chicago, IL
Chicago’s lone bar on the list is sleek, inventive, and takes a “fine-dining approach to cocktails,” according to the World’s 50 Best Bars. This means having 39 different types of ice and three full-time ice chefs.
12. The Walker Inn, Los Angeles
3612 West 6th Street, Los Angeles, CA
Hidden behind a secret door at the back of another bar, this intimate spot is known for its quirky flavors, which are based on different themes. As inventive as it may be, it still offers classic cocktails for drinkers who are feeling less adventurous.
11. ABV, San Francisco
3174 16th Street, San Francisco, CA
This trendy San Francisco spot offers an “esoteric selection of spirits,” according to the World’s 50 Best Bars. However, it still manages to have a low-key and unpretentious vibe, thanks to its friendly staff.
10. Trick Dog, San Francisco

Trick Dog is known for its affordable food, inventive cocktails, and speedy service. The bar is housed in a former factory building and is in a constant state of evolution, with complete menu makeovers every six months.

Dante is a newbie on the bar scene, having opened its doors less than a year ago. But the building has a rich history — this was the former home of a favorite neighborhood cafe which had been around since 1915. Dante has kept its low-key neighborhood feel and is “a love letter to the original,” say its owners.

San Francisco is home to perhaps the best Tiki bar in the country. If you want rum, you’ve come to the right place — the menu has a mix of drink styles, from colonial tavern, to Prohibition-era Havana, to traditional Caribbean serves and modern-day mixes, according to the World’s 50 Best Bars.
7. Mace, New York
649 East 9th Street, New York, NY
This East Village favorite is still relatively new on the scene but has made it on to the World’s Best Bars list for two years running. It’s set up to look like a storefront spice shop with mason jars full of spices covering the walls. Fortunately these aren’t just decorative, and spices are a major part of its drinks menu.
6. Maison Premiere, Brooklyn
298 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NY
Maison Premiere takes its inspiration from New Orleans and Paris, and it’s famous for having a wide variety of absinthe on the menu. There are around 30 different flavors to try, according to the World’s 50 Best Bars. The drinks are well-complemented by fresh oysters.
5. The Broken Shaker, Miami Beach
2727 Indian Creek Drive, Miami Beach, FL
One of Miami’s favorite high-end hostels is home to one of the best cocktail bars in South Beach. The Broken Shaker serves up cocktails infused with homegrown herbs and spices, and the innovative menu changes with the seasons.

This famous hotel bar was ranked in the top 10 bars in the world. It’s known for upscale takes on traditional pub food, like chicken pot pie with black truffles and foie gras, as well as whimsical cocktails.

Voted the best bar in the world right now, the Dead Rabbit takes the best bits of an Irish pub and mixes it with the prime cocktail bar experience. Irish-born owners Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry fulfilled their dreams of opening a bar in New York that paid homage to late 1880s Irish pub culture.
