PAS MAY BE THE BIGGEST LOSER BUT HADI & CO HAVE ALREADY ‘CLEANED UP’ FROM NAJIB’S ‘GENEROSITY’: GO AHEAD, CONTEST 100 SEATS – RAFIZI UNFAZED BY LATEST MISCHIEF

PETALING JAYA – PKR’s Rafizi Ramli maintained today that PAS would be the biggest loser if it decided to contest three-cornered fights in the next general elections.

The PKR vice president also claimed that Pakatan Harapan had a bigger responsibility of presenting a credible alternative, unlike PAS who were uninterested in forming the next federal government.

“I stand by my position that in a three-cornered contest, PAS will lose most, if not all of its parliamentary seats,” he said during the launch of his book A Guide to Rebuilding Our Nation (Vol 1) in Subang Jaya here today.

News portal Malaysiakini quoted earlier today PAS information chief Nasrudin Hassan as saying that the Islamist party was confident about winning 40 out of the 100 seats it planned to contest in the 14th general elections.

Rafizi said it’s good that PAS had made clear its position to the public.

“I’m very glad because the public can now make a decision. Anyway, I don’t think the public and fence sitters are interested in voting for an opportunistic party that could mean the return of another ‘BN’.

Meanwhile, Rafizi said PAS’ insistence in remaining in the Selangor state government despite the fallout between the Islamist party and PKR would be beneficial for Pakatan Harapan.

“It will prove further that PAS’ is about positions and rewards, less about the struggles and principles.

“In the short term, it may appear that PAS does not lose out from severing ties with Pakatan Harapan. But, PAS will lose more votes from Malay fence-sitters every single day.

“To me, it’s not detrimental to Pakatan Harapan and the people if PAS chooses to remain in the government until the elections. In fact, I think it’s good.”

Last Thursday, PAS Syura Council unanimously decided to terminate the party’s political cooperation with PKR, citing PKR’s violation of the agreement between the two parties.

Yesterday, Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali was reported to have ordered the three state executive councillors from PAS to relinquish their positions after political cooperation between PKR and PAS ended.
