NOW THE BOSS, UMNO TONGUE-LASHES PAS: DON’T BE ‘DISHONORABLE OPPORTUNISTS’, LEAVE S’GOR STATE GOVT – NOH OMAR ORDERS PAS
SHAH ALAM – Selangor Umno today slammed Selangor PAS as being a dishonourable opportunist for remaining in the Selangor state government even after PAS had terminated its political cooperation with PKR which heads the state administration.
Selangor Umno Liaison Committee chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar said Selangor PAS was making an unreasonable claim that it wanted to fulfill the mandate of the people given in the last general election.
The mandate of the people is based on the DAP-PKR-PAS manifesto that had the expelled former Selangor mentri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim at the helm, he said.
“If PAS says PKR had violated the political cooperation, why must PAS remain in the Selangor government? PAS and PKR are like a divorced husband and wife who still want to live together.
“I am convinced the three (Selangor) PAS executive councillors will not resign. They want to show that they are prepared to set aside the party struggle for power,” he said to reporters here.
Noh said he did not rule out the possible that the Selangor PAS stand would lead to party hopping by PAS members, state assemblymen or state executive councillors.
“If PAS were to leave the Selangor government, Pakatan Harapan (DAP-PKR-Parti Amanah Negara) will still have the numbers to have a new administration. PAS is now an opposition party in Selangor,” he said.
Noh said the people of Selangor should be wise in making a comparison and decide whether they wanted to choose a political pact that was in an unending crisis or the solidarity and unity of Barisan Nasional.
The Syura Council, the highest decision-making body of PAS, yesterday decided to terminate the political cooperation with PKR citing PKR violations of terms of the agreement that was established at the 11th general election in 2004.
The decision had an impact on the position of the three PAS state executive councillors in the Selangor government, but Selangor PAS commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi said yesterday that the councillors — Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Zaidy Abdul Talib — would remain in the state government until the dissolution of the state legislative assembly.
