NEW 2017 HONDA JAZZ OPEN FOR BOOKING IN MALAYSIA – HYBRID VARIANT INCLUDED
Over the last decade and a half, the Honda Jazz has been one of the most popular entry-level hatchbacks, with over 77,700 units sold. The product has grown a great deal since its simpler hatchback days, evolving in terms of product packaging and features and now in its third generation. Despite still being a fairly fresh product, it’s about due for a facelift- and today Honda Malaysia has announced that the New Honda Jazz will be open for bookings at all 90 authorized Honda dealers nationwide.
The new Jazz is expected to hit the market by the second quarter of 2017, but more exciting is the introduction of the Sport Hybrid variant which will be available by the third quarter of 2017. In terms of features and equipment, we can expect the new Jazz to follow that of the new City that was launched just a couple of months ago; things like new grilles, bumper designs, wheels, LED daytime running lights, and Smart Entry and Push Start being standard across the range. But the Sport Hybrid variant in particular is something to look forward to.
For one, Malaysia is the only country outside of Japan to have this Sport Hybrid variant for the Jazz, with its new intelligent Dual-Clutch Drive (i-DCD) Hybrid System. It’s a 7-speed unit with an integrated High Power Motor which helps to improve low end torque. The engine is still a 1.5-litre but it’s the newer DOHC i-VTEC variant as opposed to the SOHC units in the regular petrol models. With the new i-DCD system, the Jazz Sport Hybrid is capable of cruising in pure electric mode, which is something older Honda hybrid systems couldn’t do.
The Integrated Power Unit of this new Jazz Sport Hybrid is also 2 times as powerful and holds 1.5 times more energy than its predecessor, the IMA (Integrated Motor Assist). The result is a combined output of 137 PS, which is a pretty impressive amount for a light car like the Jazz. It’s definitely going to be an interesting product to drive, especially with the tweaks the engineers have made to the power steering system for better feel.
The New Jazz Hybrid will be making its official appearance at Carlist.my MAA Drive, Test & Buy Event this weekend (13 th -14 th May 2017) at Setia City Convention Centre (Hall 1 & 2) between 10am to 10pm. Visitors visiting the Honda booth can place their bookings for the New Jazz both Petrol and Sport Hybrid as well as all other Honda models with discounts up to RM12,000 up for grabs. Activities at the event include test drive session for all Honda models, lucky draw sessions, a special Facebook contest to be participated by the visitors of the autoshow, and educational insights into Honda services and Turbo technology. Everyone visiting the Honda booth would also have the opportunity to get their portrait drawn by the special caricature artist and kids can have fun coloring their favorite Honda models.
