More raids and arrests as police hunt Manchester bomber’s terror cell

Police are continuing to carry out house raids in Greater Manchester as they close in on Salman Abedi’s terror network after he killed 22 in a suicide bombing on Monday.
A man was arrested following a search on a property in the Moss Side area of Manchester on Thursday night, while another address in St Helens was raided on Friday morning, police said.
This was in addition to a raid in Wigan, Greater Manchester, on Thursday evening, in which “suspicious items” were recovered. Bomb disposal experts entered the property, but no controlled explosion took place.
Ten people have now been arrested with Abedi’s attack, but a man and a woman have been released. Eight men remain in custody for questioning.
The Manchester police activity came as armed police were deployed on Britain’s rail network for the first time. This is because Prime Minister Theresa May raised the terror threat level to “critical,” meaning there are fears another attack could be imminent.
