ISLAMIC PARTY WITHOUT A CORE: AS HADI GALLIVANTS WITH NAJIB, HIS PAS SELANGOR EXCO FAWN OVER AZMIN
SEPANG – Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has put to rest rumours of an impending snap election in the state.
He said the rumours were a desperate attempt by the Barisan Nasional (BN) to destabilise and split the state government administration.
Azmin was commenting on the issue of possible snap polls in the state following PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s comments which were reported in a local daily recently.
He said such baseless claims indicates that a general election is on the horizon.
“They thought that by doing so, the state government will be thrown into hot water but reality shows otherwise where the state government is still very stable.
“Even the latest report by the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) highlighted that one of the factors that contributed to the stronghold of the state government is the unity of its administration,” Azmin told reporters upon his return from the Middle East on Friday at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Azmin said such rumours were spread by those who were envious of the success of the state government in terms of economic advancement and unity.
“The mandate given by the rakyat is a heavy responsibility that needs to be implemented.
“This mandate was given to the leadership in the last election so we will ensure it is done in the form of programmes and actions that benefit the rakyat,” he said.
Among the prominent leaders from PAS who greeted Azmin upon his arrival were PAS excos Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, Zaidy Abdul Talib, Dr Halimah Ali, Abdul Rani Osman, Noor Hanim Ismail, and Shafie Ngah. DAP’s Ng Sue Lin and Gan Pei Nei were also present to greet him.
Meanwhile, on the claims that certain assemblymen will be jumping party, Azmin said this was another underhanded politic provocation to cast doubt on the state administration.
“I am happy and have full confidence in all the state assemblymen who have put their focus into their work instead of indulging in dirty politics,” he said.
