As Manchester paid tribute last night to the victims of Monday’s suicide bombing, so did the rest of the world.
22 people were killed and 64 injured in the attack, which took place at the end of US pop star Ariana Grande’s concert at the Manchester Arena.
Replicating previous tributes following terror attacks, iconic monuments in Europe and across the globe were illuminated with the Union Jack, in solidarity with Manchester.

At midnight on Tuesday, the Eiffel Tower fell dark.
Élysée Palace, Paris, France.
The French flag flies at half mast at the Élysée Palace — the official residence of the President of France.
Tel Aviv City Hall, Israel.
Burj Khalifa, Dubai, UAE.
Yankee Stadium, New York City, USA.
The stadium also played ‘God Save The Queen’ ahead of the New York Yankees game versus Kansas City Royals.
Empire State Building, New York City, USA.
“In deep sympathy for the lives lost in Manchester, England last night, we will remain dark this evening,” the official Empire State Building Instagram account said.

Manchester United FC stood together for a minute’s silence during training, ahead of the Europa League final, which takes place Wednesday evening.
