AZIZAH UNPERTURBED BY HADI’S THREATS: PKR TO REMOVE PAS EXCOS ONLY AFTER SHURA COUNCIL CONFIRMS CUTTING TIES
PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said her party would wait for PAS syura council’s decision the cooperation between the two parties before deciding what to do next.
“They have yet to decide because PAS has its own structure, the syura council has yet to decide,” she said during a press conference after a Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting in Petaling Jaya today.
Asked whether PKR was ready to face the syura council’s decision, Wan Azizah said PKR had discussed the matter beforehand.
“We are looking at the best political scenario because we will be facing the upcoming general election so we must take into account all views,” she said.
The PAS muktamar, the party’s highest decision making body, today resolved to cut ties with PKR after 18 years of cooperation.
The motion was adopted by the muktamar after overwhelming majority voted in agreement.
However, the matter is still subject to the syura council’s decision, which, despite lacking executive powers, is highly influential and is able to advise the party’s central committee.
Meanwhile, asked on Terengganu PAS’ decision to contest all PKR seat in the state, Wan Azizah said it was up to the them.
“What can we do if they want to contest? But we have stated that if the aim is to topple the kleptocratic government, I believe we need the rationality to bear this in mind,” she said.
Meanwhile, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Muhyiddin Yassin said his party can’t continue working with PAS if the latter insists on snubbing Bersatu.
“If that is considered as the final decision, on our side, we cannot say we want to continue (wanting to work with PAS),” he said.
However, Muhyiddin believes that there are still those in PAS leadership that want to cooperate with Bersatu.
“It’s up to them… We will take whatever that has been decided to guide us and we will still continue our efforts in Pakatan Harapan,” he said.
PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang yesterday reiterated his party will not in any way, collaborate with Bersatu.
This is because, he said, Bersatu lacked direction and leadership.
